Hi! I’m Ernest Strubhar, managing partner in Better Built Barns. When we moved to Perkins, OK, in 1992, I was looking for a business where I could work with my 4 sons, at that time ages 7 to 14. Boys need to learn to work, and dads need to teach them. What better way than working together?
My sons and I started our business by building 8'x10', 8'x 12' and up to 10'x16' storage buildings under the big blue sky and delivering them with an old farm trailer pulled by a ½ ton pick-up. I taught the boys to work hard, to do a good job, to provide a quality product for a reasonable price–and to make every effort to keep our commitments. We adopted the motto my father-in-law used in his tire business for 50 years: “Take care of your customers and they’ll take care of you.”
In 1996 we built a 40'x64' shop with a small office in the corner. There we all worked together. When customers came, I stopped making buildings to make sales. When we did a delivery, I took one of my sons with me. The rest kept building.
My sons grew. Sales increased. We wanted to build bigger portable buildings. We upgraded our equipment. We learned to build better and faster. We started building some garages and shops to keep all five of us busy.
Changes came to our family. When some of my sons moved on to other employment, we needed more help. The business needed to take a new direction. In 2006 we reorganized Better Built Barns into a partnership so that everyone who works here, even those outside the family, has a vested interest in building the best buildings and the strongest company possible.
In early 2007 we built a display lot along Highway 33 and opened a sales office there. Later that year we more than doubled the size of our shop production area. My son now Carl runs the shop. I oversee marketing and customer service. But we still all work together to build the best portable buildings you can find for a reasonable price. We still take care of our customers.
We can deliver portable buildings as big as 14'x32' with our specially-designed delivery trailer. Most of our portable buildings get used as storage sheds. But we also build portable garages, portable cabins, portable offices. And you’ll be impressed with how we can finish out the interior of our portable offices and cabins.
We built this company from zero by working hard and taking care of every customer. We still try as hard as ever to keep our commitments and deliver each customer a quality product at a reasonable price. Give us a call, and we'll take care of you!
